LeAnn Jensen, creator of “Time Lapse of Transportation”, is an illustrator and graphic designer currently living in Omaha, Nebraska. Raised on a century farm in Iowa, LeAnn left home to study graphic design and illustration. In 2003, she received an AA from The Creative Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

The banner created by Ms. Jensen is intended to highlight the changes in our modes of transportation. It is especially interesting to note how we have gradually adopted transportation methods requiring the burning of fossil fuels. From animal-powered transport, to human-powered devices such as the bicycle, to the steam engine, and finally, the combustion engine. To the artist, it is no great surprise that the use of fossil fuels for transport has been a significant contributor to the altered composition of the Earth’s atmosphere.

LeAnn’s artwork has been featured around the Omaha area: España Art Gallery’s February 2008 “Ode to an Ex” group show curated by “Miss Cake” Jilawan Bunnimit, May 2009 Second Friday Art Walk event in Council Bluffs, and April 2011’s “Creativity in Crisis” Kent Bellows Studio benefit show at The New BLK gallery curated by Shannon Claire and Half-To-Help. Most recently, LeAnn was tasked to created a limited edition poster for the Omaha Performing Arts 2011 “Jazz on the Green” concert series and also recently completed a design for a 2012 Lunar Calendar in partnership with the Astrosphere New Media Association in order to foster interest in astronomy and promote a greater understanding of our universe.

LeAnn works primarily in digital art mediums, specifically vector art, a method of illustrating by creating shapes using mathematical points and paths instead of pixels. This allows the  artwork to enlarge to any size without losing image quality, a very useful method for this large scale banner project. LeAnn suspects her penchant for a precise medium like vector illustration has much to do with her lifelong appreciation of geometry, symmetry, and the underlying chaotic order of the cosmos.

Since 2006, LeAnn has been working professionally as an Art Director, as well as creating art for her own enjoyment. She is the current Art Director at Ink Tank Merch in Omaha, a subsidiary of Saddle Creek Records. LeAnn’s portfolio of work can be seen at blueshiftgfx.com.
